On The Naughty List

I've waited four years to do this....patiently waiting, tricking Mom and Dad into believing that I could be trusted, occasionally stealing a sniff but finally today my charade has come to an end.  It was SO worth it too! Muuhahahahahaaaaa!  They never imagined I was capable of this as it has never happened before, but when they went shopping today I showed them that I indeed do have a naughty side.
When they walked in the door Mom quickly spotted the ripped up, shiny bag on the floor.  It only took her a second to register what had happened as I sat on the couch looking ever so sweet.  She immediately scanned the room for other ripped up bags but found none...when she realized I had opened the only important one under the tree (MINE) she started to laugh as did Dad.  Shooo...I thought this meant I was in the clear.  She noticed that I had carefully displaced the package that was in front of mine trying to hide it and then ever so gently pulled mine out and started tearing it to shreds.  I don't think they realized what a superior sniffer I actually have.  They thought it was amazing I was able to only pick MY present from the pile...humans they'll never get it! ;)

Mom then found my new toy by the slider where I like to lay with my toys...it was slightly chewed, one squeaker was popped but other than that it still looked good.  At this point, I thought we would all break out into play and start chasing each other around the house with my new toy, but Mom (continuing to laugh) proceeds to get out a new bag, put MY toy in it, and then place it WAY out of my reach toward the back of the tree!  HOW RUDE!  She said it would be like a brand new surprise when I opened it again on Christmas!  BAH HUMBUG, I say!

So....I will be like this until Christmas, keeping my sniffer away from any interesting smells and also keeping it warm.

My Days As The ONLY Child Are Numbered

That's right...don't I look thrilled! ;)  Apparently, there's going to be  a crying little human invading my space this July.  I must start preparing now...any of you dogs out there with these types of little humans could help me greatly by passing on your advice.  Mom keeps telling me that I will always be her first baby, but I'm not finding that so reassuring right now.  Hmmm....
