Stink Eye

That's right, I'm giving Mom the stink eye in this one...I think she deserves it, what do you think? However, I did cooperate for Baby Joslyn's sake but not for long, mind you!
In other news, I wanted to share about my guard dog abilities with everyone.  Mom and Dad never knew if I had it in me but I showed them...
We had a visitor a few weeks ago and I greeted them the night they came but didn't realize they spent the night.  When they came downstairs the next morning Mom and Baby J were in the kitchen when they heard this loud, ferocious barking and came running to see me barking and lunging at our sweet 12 year old visitor!  Don't worry, I was only warning her but had she been an intruder then she would have been in for a bad time. ;)  Anyway, Mom quickly assured me she was ok and then I was fine but ya never can be too careful when it comes to guarding your family and especially little sisters!  Mom was actually happy to see I had a protective instinct in me so I got extra treats that day...hehehe!

This Is How I Roll!

Oh yeah, on hot days this is how I like to do it!

My pal, Ozzie, rolls this way even in mid-winter though!  No thanks!  I'll stick to days when it's between 80 and 100 degrees.

We got out early since it's supposed to be another 95+ degree day here, but it was already toasty at 9am.  After my splash fest and play time with my pal I think I'll hang out in the a.c. the rest of the day.  Ahhh, the life of a house dog is the life for me....well, on scorchers like today anyway. Stay cool everyone!

The Ups & Downs of Having a Tiny Human

Well hello there, I understand if you have forgotten about me as I have been away for far too long!  I have finally talked Mom into helping me write a post for the blog though, and hopefully we can continue this trend. ;)  Anyway, I hope that you all are BARKariffic.

I thought I'd share some of the ups & downs over the course of the past year related to sharing a home with a tiny human (in real terms, having your home taken over by a crying, pooping, spitting, grabby, and of course, cute, little devil and having your existence as you knew it completely upturned).

DOWN: When they first arrive, it is quite scary!  They are laying there quiet and still and then suddenly they move or cry, and it really catches you off guard, so be prepared for this.  I always managed to get away quickly at this stage without skin to fur contact...shooo!

UP:  You get used to their presence after a few weeks and it is actually sorta relaxing lying beside of them and listening to them breathe...out of arm's reach, of course!

DOWN:  Your Mom will dress you in silly themed costumes, etc... and make you pose for pictures for various holidays!

UP:  You can release tension by tearing into presents early and then making a fast get away!  hehehe! BOL!

UP: They start to notice what a good looking specimen you are, admiring you, and even wearing shirts with your likeness!

DOWN:  They gain control over their arms and get grabby!  Watch out because the paws are at the top of their grab list!

UP:  They start to eat solid food and there are always crumbs being thrown on the floor if you are in position and ready to pounce.  Sometimes they even give you the food straight from their hands!

DOWN:  When your human gets upset because you are constantly licking the high chair tray, they send you outside and then the little devil child taunts you from inside the door.

UP:  They have snacks on the floor and crush their crackers into tiny pieces...you get clean-up detail and trust me, it's worth it!

UP:  They even share their snack with you sometimes before they crush it!

UP:  They like to play in "dens" and they make a mess by throwing things all around the room which makes you look neat and tidy in comparison.

DOWN:  The minute you try to get some shut eye or soak up some sun, they decide it's time to play or pet you.

UP:  They are very kissable and there's usually some residual food around their mouths to be licked. ;)

DOWN:  They sometimes get upset and make very whiny, squealing sounds when you do this!

UP:   They look up to you even if it's because they currently have to.

UP:  They will be your best friend forever and plus, they really are pretty cute.

DOWN:  The amount of sleep you get will take a huge hit and you will constantly be trying to catch some z's.

For all those doggies out there who are new brothers or sisters to little humans, remember that there will be many ups and downs along the way but they are worth it when you gain such a precious new friend and pack member for life!

Please excuse me while I try to get some beauty rest now.

Wowza....I'm Gonna Be 6!!

I can hardly believe that I'm gonna be 6!  This year my birthday falls on Easter, so I hope that means extra hard boiled eggs for me! BOL!  We have decided to celebrate the next weekend though so as to maximize the fun.  Wish all you blog pals lived close by as it sure would be fun to romp with you.

Photos With Mom

Mom and I went for a walk on Sunday, just the two of us!  It was great fun although she made me pose a few times for her.  Don't worry, the grafitti you see is only chalk so it will wash off.  She has plans to do more chalk photos sometime. Apparently, she wants to use her chalk drawings and pictures to make a story book for my baby sister and me...should be interesting.  Hope you all are having a super week...we're supposed to get up to 65 m.p.h. winds here tonight.  Hope we don't blow away!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I must admit that this is pretty cute but...

I think I prefer this one. ;)

Snowy Days

Hi all, the snow has finally arrived in the Pacific Northwest and we are buried in the stuff!  I wonder how my brother, Remi, and friend, Darwin are doing, especially since they are not accustomed to this stuff on their side of the mountains?  Anyway, I have enjoyed a few walks with the family and snowy playdates with my pal, Ozzie.  I just hope this beautiful, fluffy snow doesn't turn icy and crunchy anytime soon because then it will not be nearly as fun.

Happy 2012 everyone!

Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas!!  I know it's early but these days I have to seize the opportunity for Mom to help me type when I can get it! Boy do I miss all of my blog pals...hope you all are wonderful, healthy, and happy this holiday season!!
I am doing great except tomorrow I have to go to the vet and have my teeth cleaned and this growth (totally harmless) cut off my leg...YUCK and DOUBLE YUCK!!! I tried to convince Mom that we should wait until after the holidays for my teeth cleaning since I will inevitably be getting and eating LOTS of treats but she didn't seem to listen.  Hmmmph! Also, Mom shut my tail in the car door last week! The door didn't actually latch and shut completely and Mom opened it back up very fast.  She apologized about a billion times and gave me three treats!  I did yip a little and she felt pretty bad especially since she is always so careful about that but she said I was turning with my tail tucked and I whipped it around at just the wrong time.  I do not recommend getting your tail shut in a door though...NOT fun!  Luckily, it didn't even leave a dent and I went and romped with my pal right afterward and was just fine. Other than that, life is good and I have been enjoying some cold, frosty walks with my doggie pal, Ozzie!

See the line of drool?  Hehehehe!  Mom gets me to pose by putting a treat in front of me and telling me to leave it and on this day I was a little excited about my treat!

My little sister is growing like a weed these days!  I have been enjoying cleaning her hands and feet for her and she seems to like it too.  The other day she tried to reach her hands out and grab my muzzle.  I think she wanted a kiss...she loves me!

I love her too!

I must say though that if I were this round, Mom and Dad would make me go on a diet! ;) How do babies get away with it! SHEESH!  It's like she gets to eat whenever she wants...all she has to do is let out a wee whimper and dinner is served.
Mom tried to convince me that Joslyn was my only present this year, but I used my skills to discover the truth!  Click here for that story!

Well, I hope you all get to do lots of relaxing and eating yummy stuff like me this holiday season!

Merry Christmas!!
