Vacation: Day 1 - Bend, Oregon

Well, finally I am getting around to telling you about our vacation. It will take a few posts so bear with me. :) This is from the first day when we went to Bend, OR. We stopped for a quick lunch in this little town in the middle of nowhere and then continued on.

Finally, we arrived in Bend and I was SO excited to go to the cool dog park there!! Here I am saying, "woo hoo, where are the dogs, I wanna play!!!" And then...

"What!!! @**@* 88@@!! You've got to be kidding me! There are NO dogs here!" We even stayed and played for about 25 minutes or so and no dogs ever showed up...maybe it was too hot for them....sheesh, wimps! ;)

So then my fate was sealed....it was posing in front of the Juniper for me.

It smelled so good...wonder how it tastes?

Then Etsuko tried to get me to taste the water but I was a little suspicious. Ya know, being strange water and all.

I declined and told her to try it first. BOL!

Then, Dad and Uncle Joel biked up this steep hill and then down and then around town some more. We followed them in the car up the hill and we pretended it was the Tour De France and we stuck water bottles and stuff out the window for them. BOL! They didn't take them though. Oh well, they were empty anyway. ;)

The next morning we had breakfast at our FAVORITE breakfast spot ever!!! McKay's Cottage not only has amazing food and superb service but they also bring each dog their very own bowl of ice water and a big biscuit. We went here last year for the 1st time as some of you may recall and so we were pumped to go back again! Mom suggests trying the Mascarpone Stuffed Croissant French Toast with Strawberries! YUM-O!

And before we left town we went back up to Pilot Butte to take in the view and snap a few pics! Next up we will be headed to Idaho for the night and then it is off to Salt lake City so stay tuned!

Too bad there were no pups there, they have no idea what they were missing with you there. Those strawberries and breakfast look so tasty. Thanks for sharing your fun vacation.

Oh Nala - I'm so excited - this is shaping up to be a fantastic holiday!! Can't wait to see what the rest of it brings! That McKay's COttage place sounds wonderful - if we lived near you, we'd definitely go there! You're so lucky that there are places where your humans can take you with them on holiday - when I went on holiday with them back in April, the people had banned dogs from the entire town!!!! Humph! Talk about un-dog-friendly!

Wow, it looks like your trip got off to a great start! We stopped at dog parks along the way when we were moving from Texas to here and there were no dogs at the park in Boise either. Steve and I still did lots of running after being cooped up in the car.

Sounds like a fun adventure. I am sure that you got some of that yummy french toast! And there is no such thing as a dog park with no daogs, maybe they were invisible!

I love that you took sweet Nala with you. She looks like she is so good. Africa was another story on our vacation. I would like a bite of the croissant and the pictures of her on the snow are amazing. You are such a great photographer. She isn't even my dog and I would be happy to hang that photo on my wall.

Hi Nala! That sounds like a great holiday - we can't wait to see the rest of your posts about it. It's all so pretty and you and your mum and dad all look so happy, aw, it made us feel happy and waggy just reading it! You are such a pretty dog - those photos of you in the dog park are gorgeous. It's a shame you didn't meet any doggies though. :( Schnauze snuggles - JD and Max.

What a beautiful family! Just kidding! Thanks for the sweet post. We miss you!! The girls want to call you but I know they are so hard to understand on the phone that I have avoided it so far. We'd love to see you soon!! They want Amber to come for a sleep-over and Nala for a play date with Gracie. They didn't mention Justin but I'm sure they want him too- we know Scott does! His new work has showers for after his lunch run!!
