Vacation: Day 2 - Painted Hills

Gees, Mom is VERY slow with the photos lately so who knows how long it will take us to get through this vacation but finally we are on day 2. Before I tell you about it though I just want to say thanks for the well wishes and I am feeling much better! Ok, so on Day 2 we drove from Bend, OR to Caldwell, ID and on the way we stopped at the Painted Hills which are in Oregon. They were gorgeous and I even walked up on some of the red rocks! They weren't even that hot....Mom and Dad checked it out first before they let my paws touch it. :)

Dad ran up with me and then we ran back down!

A little ways down the road we stopped off for a quick drink at the Loose Tooth Saloon! It was a pretty nice watering hole. ;) We also visited the Livery and the Lil' Lernin' Scool while we were there. BOL!

And then, I met this horrible, terrible, no good creature!!! That's right, all I wanted to do was say hello to the baby as I had never met one of these things called cats before but this kitty had a different idea. It let me get really close and then it struck with precision and speed! It happened so fast that I was left wondering how it happened but indeed I came away with a scratch on the nose. Although I must say it was so tiny that it was barely visible....most likely due to my lightning reflexes in getting away from this monster! ;) Ok, next it is off to the Salt Flats and Salt Lake City, UT!!

Oh Nala, what an amazing outing but oh my, you poor thing! Being struck by a kitten, and then expected to be lovable in return, I presume? I met a cat a few months ago. We were on the cat's home turf, and Mom didn't let me chase it. So I didn't. The cat was very provoking though, so all I could do was to practice my amazing self-control skills. Like a true RR. I'm glad you had it in your heart to be kind to the little no-good creature, who didn't even give you a chance to show your lovable intentions!

Greetings from Africa!

Thanks for the warning about those cat things. I have never met one and always thought they looked cute, but I would not like a scratched nose.

Beautiful photos. We have never met a cat up close and personal but we hear that some of them have deadly claws. Do be careful, Nala - we think you met one of the nasty ones. Snooter kisses to your boo boo.

Great hills! What fab places you got to visit, glad I'm along for the trip!

Aww, that little kitten was trying so hard to look big and scary. You've got to watch them though - as you found out - they're sharp!

Hi Nala - we love these photos, tonight we're gonna dream we were there too! What a great time you've been having, it all looks like so much fun. Shame the kitty showed you her pointy bits, you're such a good girl to show such tremendous self-control under such severe provocation. Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.

gorgeous shots - and yes you have to be very careful around kitties - for some reason they tend not to like us doggies

Ooh, Nala - I should have warned you about kitties!! I grew up with one and have lots of scratches to prove it! :-) Sadly, us doggies are never quite fast enough for their attacks...the safest thing is just to stay out of range! And it looked like such a cute little thing too - who could believe that they can be so dangerous?!

Wow - those hills really do look painted! And what a quaint place you stopped at! My human says she can't believe there really are still places that look like that - she always thought they were only in movies! Great pictures - so colourful!
