Don't Badger Me....I'm On a Hike!

Ahhhh, nothin' like diggin' in the cool dirt on a hot day!

This is Sierra's signature pose...always on the look out for action!

And in the name of science I feel I have to post these pictures. R.I.P. Mr. Badger. That's right, Sierra found a Badger while we were on our hike. Who knows how the poor guy met his demise but it looked and smelled like he had been in Badger heaven for awhile. How did he get in the tree, you ask?? Well, let's just say a little ingenuity on Colleen's part...those humans do some crazy things to keep us canines from enjoying the great outdoors in all it's glory!!

As Colleen pointed out, it's not often that you see a Badger. At least, not for us. In fact, Mom and I have never seen one until this guy showed up....too bad it was under these circumstances. Hopefully, he has some Badger cousins still roaming the hillsides. :)

We apologize if this post has disturbed you in anyway. ;)

What an outing! The badger is beautiful. I tried to get Mom to bring both a goat and a donkey carcass with us home, but all she lets me bring back are sheep's horn. Which reminds me that it was a long time since I saw one, so I think it's time I took a hike!

Badgers certainly have an impressive set of teeth!

That's quite open country you were hiking through. Our badgers tend to live in more wooded areas. Mind you, the only ones we ever see are pretty much on a par with yours - they're usually dead beside a road.

I'd love to see a live one, hope you do too. Just keep clear of those teeth.

Nala, I am a Badger!! Hehe, it is my last name! :)
Looks like you had a fun hike. And I love your post about why you are awesome - I agree! The pic of you and your parents at their wedding is THE cutest. I hope you have that framed at home somewhere!

Hi Nala
Your so lucky to have seen a badger. Did you know that us dachshunds are bred to go into holes and kill badgers. You must have a dachshund who likes hiking in the area.

Parents never let us play with anything fun =( All we want to do is explore and they want to be all safe. What's up with that ? Hope you still had fun!! =)

I'm not at all disturbed. I was raised hunting and quit in my teens, not my thing. A natural death is a good thing. :)

Hi Nala - you know, your photos are always wonderful, we really savour your blog and get very excited whenever we see a new post from you!

Poor Mr Badger - how mean of the humans to move him from your inquistive self though, he he he! Actually, your human is quite right about badgers being seldom seen - it reminded our female human about an old biology teacher (sheesh! NOW she's going back a bit - he he!) who also came across a fresh badger cadaver whilst out on a walk with his wife. He dragged it home with him (his wife was not best pleased - those things are HUGE!) and then brought it into school for us to witness him doing a disection of the poor thing. Um - he got into a bit of trouble for doing that!!

Anyway, great post! Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.

Yeaooooo! Some snagglers on that Mr. Badger! Whoa. Quite a find on your hike! Not sure mom and I are ready for that on our daily hikes...
Come by for a visit if ya like!

Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,
