Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy Birthday to my Dad! He turned another year older on Friday, October 23! Mom and I made him dinner to celebrate, he opened his presents, and then he and Mom went to the Husky game on Saturday but I didn't get to go to that. :( Oh well, they lost miserably so no loss for me although I would have liked to play with the sweet Husky they call Dubs. Mom brought back a few FAR AWAY pictures of him for me though. :) Oh, in case you are wondering, my Mom did not make the dessert above. Dad said he didn't want cake for his birthday so Mom went to the bakery and got these chocolate mousse filled cups w/ fruit.

This is the dinner Mom and I made. Dad's favorite dish, Runzas, and some broccoli and green beans. Runzas are this dish from the Midwest, specifically Nebraska, where my Dad's family is from. I don't know if they originated there but that's where they came from for us. I am thinking they may have originated in Germany but I really don't know...anyone familiar with these things? Anyway, they are filled with ground turkey, (we don't really eat beef which is what they normally have) cabbage, onions, cheddar cheese, a dash of paprika, salt, and lots of pepper. I got to eat some cheese when I was helping Mom make these. :)

And here we are working HARD to make Dad's special dinner. Notice Mom's apron...BOL! And of course, there is me supervising and then inspecting the finished product! She would never survive in the kitchen without me I tell ya. ;)

Happy Birthday Dad, I WOOF you!!

Oh, happy birthday Nala's Dad! That looks like a really yummy meal - your mom sure is lucky to have you around to make sure that everything went okay, he he he! We love your mom's apron too - really cute - where did she get it? Shame about the game, but hey, Dubs is a rather handsome chap - almost as handsome as us, he he! (Thanks for the link to his blog - we enjoyed having a leaf through it!)

Happy birthday, Nala's daddy!! It looks like you and your Mom made a delicious dinner, Nala! And the dessert looks delicious too. Thanks for sharing your pics! And would you mind telling me one more time what computer program your mom uses to make her scrapbook-style pictures? Mom promises to remember this time. :)

Happy Birthday Justin. Too bad about those Huskies. Did you see my brothers and Dad there? They were wearing purple and crying.

Happy happy bday to your pops! I asked my mom about the runzas and she said she heard of them from living around the midwest... probably S. Dakota. Looks yummy!

Here in Kansas, they call runzas "bierocks". They're either German or maybe Russian... but whatever their origin, they're YUMMY! (Not that we've had any, but Mom and Dad have.)
LOVE your mom's cool apron!
At first when you said a husky game, I thought maybe your mom and dad were running around playing neck grabbies or something... then Stormy straightened me out. Hee hee hee! It sure would be nice to meet Dubs, wouldn't it?
Love,
Ammy

Happy Birthday to your human!! Those "runzas" look so yummy! I have never heard of them before - did you get to taste a whole one or just the cheese? That chocolate cup/fruit thing looked amazing too!

That is so cool! My mom's birthday was the day after! She had the best day I've every known - starting with a 3 hour ride in the bush and ending with a hike up the hilltop to watch the sun go down! That food looks very yummy. Happy belated birthday to your dad, Nala!
