Last weekend, my family went on a trip to the beach! The beach is my favorite place, and as soon as my paws hit the sand I want to RUN! Unfortunately, my efforts to run were thwarted by an evil leash and my pawrents this time! I spread out all four feet in a playful move in preparation to run as soon as I felt the sand, but Mom quickly told me I couldn't run. SO....I had to settle for leashed beach walks and relaxing in the warm sand. Not so bad I guess, but the next time I go back I had better be able to run!!
We went to this place called Kalaloch which is where my Dad's family and some close family friends used to go when Dad was a kid. Every Labor Day they went and camped and participated in sandcastle building competitions and other fun stuff. This year, a friend wanted to get that tradition started again, so we went back. No more sandcastle competition, but that didn't stop them!
Check out this sandcastle...it took them hours, literally! It was mostly my Grampi, being an architect and all, he is pretty good with this kind of stuff! It was like he just designed it as he went with no plan yet somehow it turned out magical! The neat thing was how many people came down to look at it, and they even took pictures with it!
So, all the boys in the picture were the ones who came when they were kids plus my Auntie Alison, but she didn't make it this trip. Anyway, as you can see the boys have grown up and are all now married or close to it so the group of "kids" has grown. I guess when they have kids they will have to start referring to themselves as adults, so I'll let them enjoy this last "kid" moment. ;)
I hope next time I can actually be off-leash and RUN free! Good news...I have had some better days this week where I didn't seem so stiff! WOOHOO! Mom tells me not to get too excited though because I still have a LONG way to go! Oh well, baby steps! ;)

Hey sis,
I love the sand, too. It's the only thing that really gives me the zoomies. Glad to hear your recovery is going well. Be patient with your mom as she knows what's best for you right now. I'm recovering from a couple nips I got at the daycare. Seems like I keep knocking the scabs off, so they're taking a while to heal. We ran into a 6-month-old ridgeback at the dog park this morning, but she wouldn't play. Her pawrents said she was afraid of other dogs. Doesn't sound like a ridgeback to me. Anyway, hope you're doing well.
What a great place to go!!
I'm sorry that leash was keeping you in place. Good that you are recovering well. Your mom is really taking good care of you!!
Eva loves the beach too!
We hope that you continue to improve, Nala. That looks like a wonderful trip you had. Beautfiful sandcastle.

thats an amazing sandcastle! when i was in architecture school we had annual sandcastle building contests. though ours weren't as impressive.
Glad to hear you're slowly getting better. Don't rush it so you heal up the first time and dont need to rest again!
We saw a ridgeback at the park today and Darwin went straight up to it, but it didnt want to play with her. :(

Hi Nala - aka beautiful beach babe!
Oh yeah - we love the beach too, as you know! We sure hope you can get to go off-leash next time too - how frustrating that must have been for you.
Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.
Me and my Mom are praying for you to RUN with the WIND SOON.

Who doesn't love the sand??!!! The beach was made for running! :D
We can only imagine how horrible it must be having to walk on a leash while at the beach! :/ However, we really want you to get well soon, so you must take it easy. Try to think about how wonderful it is going to feel like when your pawrents let you off that stupid leash...yeahhh... :D
Sorry we haven't stopped by in a while, we are busy bees... we still think about you all the time though. Get lots of rest - and feel better SOON!
Lots of stinkin' kisses from 2 crazy boyz in Sweden
Hi Nala - am so pleased to hear that you seem to be recovering! But I can share your frustration - what, LEASHED walks on the beach! GAH! That's like the worst torture!!
Wow - what an AMAZING sandcastle! Hsin-Yi would have wanted to stop and take a photo with it too! :-)
Slobbers,
