A Trip to the Beach

Last weekend, my family went on a trip to the beach!  The beach is my favorite place, and as soon as my paws hit the sand I want to RUN!  Unfortunately, my efforts to run were thwarted by an evil leash and my pawrents this time!  I spread out all four feet in a playful move in preparation to run as soon as I felt the sand, but Mom quickly told me I couldn't run.  SO....I had to settle for leashed beach walks and relaxing in the warm sand.  Not so bad I guess, but the next time I go back I had better be able to run!!

We went to this place called Kalaloch which is where my Dad's family and some close family friends used to go when Dad was a kid.  Every Labor Day they went and camped and participated in sandcastle building competitions and other fun stuff.  This year, a friend wanted to get that tradition started again, so we went back.  No more sandcastle competition, but that didn't stop them!

Check out this sandcastle...it took them hours, literally!  It was mostly my Grampi, being an architect and all, he is pretty good with this kind of stuff!  It was like he just designed it as he went with no plan yet somehow it turned out magical!  The neat thing was how many people came down to look at it, and they even took pictures with it!
So, all the boys in the picture were the ones who came when they were kids plus my Auntie Alison, but she didn't make it this trip.  Anyway, as you can see the boys have grown up and are all now married or close to it so the group of "kids" has grown.  I guess when they have kids they will have to start referring to themselves as adults, so I'll let them enjoy this last "kid" moment. ;)

I hope next time I can actually be off-leash and RUN free!  Good news...I have had some better days this week where I didn't seem so stiff!  WOOHOO!  Mom tells me not to get too excited though because I still have a LONG way to go! Oh well, baby steps! ;)

It's About Time Mom!!!

SHEESH!  I thought she may NEVER post again!  Well, I'm still here everyone, but my Mom seems to have fallen off the face of the earth this past month so I've had no help writing my blog!  She's been getting ready for school, which has her mind quite occupied.  She will be teaching the Gifted and Talented program this year, so again, it's something new for her to plan for.  She has 3rd, 4th, & 5th graders each one day a week, and while that doesn't seem so bad she just wants to make sure she engages the kiddos and really enriches their education.  Plus, her brother, my Uncle Aaron, came to visit so she left me for a couple of days to take him on a whirlwind tour of Washington.  She also has been taking pictures for some friends, and on top of all of that she has been worrying about me still.

I'm still not doing so hot!  In fact, Mom talked to the vet again two days ago and he said I have tendonitis in both my back legs pretty bad.  The first trip to the vet we were under the impression that it was mainly my right.  Anyway, I am very stiff, especially in the mornings, and I take special precautions when sitting to position myself just right.  He said it mostly just takes ALOT of time with tendonitis.  Maybe by next summer, I'll be good to go!  Also, Mom stopped physical therapy because that just seemed to be making me more stiff.  It's NO fun having tendonitis so you active doggies PLEASE be careful not to disrupt any of your tendons...they are not so forgiving.  As you can see from the picture above, I get to do alot of this type of activity...chewing things!  I don't mind, especially when my chewing objects are as yummy as the yak chew my bro Remi sent me!  This thing also lasted for days which never happens with me and chewies!  In addition to my legs, I woke up the other morning with hives on my muzzle!  Mom thinks it may be either from this new treat she gave me (so she stopped) or from the glucosamine I'm on now, but we don't know for sure.  Anyway, the hives have cleared up now, and I hope they stay gone. That's about it for me now.  I can't promise when I'll get to visit you next as Mom is pretty busy and her brain is inundated with school stuff right now, but I am thinking of you and miss you all greatly!

I'll leave you with a picture of when I got to go to this fun place with Mom not too long ago to help her scout out photo spots for a family photo session she did with her friend.  Some of you have seen it on her photography blog already but oh well. :)  She says I am her muse...I guess I can work for her as long as I get paid in treats! ;)

Big Kisses & Lots of dog blog love!
