What Are Little Boys Made Of?

OMD...last night I got to meet the sweetest little human ever! I had never met a little human quite so small before and I was very curious but Mom said I did an excellent job and was very calm. I kept looking at him and tilting my head and then I would sniff his little toes. Isn't he sooo sweet!

Are You My Sister??

I thought maybe Mom had brought me home a new sister especially since you all have been asking but it turns out it was just the neighbor dog, Lola! She was out loose running around the neighborhood like usual so Mom befriended her and let me say hello. She really liked to jump up and kiss my mouth so I had to growl and tell her to simmer down a couple of times. We got a few fun runs in on the front lawn though before Mom took her back to her house.

Now, down to the business of a sister!! I think that I would REALLY like one although it would probably take me a little while to get used to. Mom says if I ever get a sister then she will look just like me so I will know she is my sister. :) Mom thinks it's a fabulous idea but Dad is not sold yet...hmmm! I do understand his point though....he thinks I like being an only dog which does have it's benefits. However, if I had a sister we could play together and curl up and keep each other warm. For now, I will just have to dream.

Gracie, Don't Go!!

Dear Gracie,

When you first came to my house

You were like a little pesky mouse.

Chewing my toys and eating my treats

And even curling up at my Mom and Dad's feets!

We played so much all through the week

And now that you must go my eyes are starting to leak.

Your sweet and playful ways have grown on me

And have made my week as happy as can be!

I know you must go be with your family today

But before you go I must say:

I LOVE you Gracie, you sweet little thing!

Come back soon, just tell your Mom to give my Mom a ring!!

Love & Kisses,

Nala

Puppies Just Don't Understand!!

My little friend Gracie is not even two yet so I still consider her a puppy...I am almost three and much more mature than her. ;) So you see, there are many things she does not yet understand. For example, when you hear the crackle of a package coming from your Mom's hands in the kitchen then there is probably something good in there like CHEESE!! This is when you go to the kitchen rug, sit down, and look up at your Mom with those big, sweet eyes that can melt her heart. :) Whatever you do, you MUST maintain your position until she gives you a piece of the extra sharp cheddar...it's the best. :)

As I said, Gracie has alot to learn. As I am trying to give my best sweet eyes, she is trying to give me kisses and distracting me from my job. She really should follow suit here but she just doesn't understand yet.

I try to quickly tell her to sit down and look cute but she still just wants to give me kisses and play....puppies, sheesh!

Finally, she gives up and takes a quick stretch but I do not give up! I look from the cheese to Mom to the cheese to Mom until finally she gives me a piece but the kicker is she gives Gracie one too!! What's up with that...she didn't even sit and give her big, sweet eyes. I guess when you are a puppy you get away with that stuff.

My Fun Filled Weekend!

I hope everyone had a super weekend! Mine was great and Mom and Dad got to be home with me 3 days instead of two because of President's Day! WOOHOO! I think every weekend should be a 3-day weekend!

To start the weekend off we celebrated my Uncle Joel's birthday!! It has been a long time since he has been over so it was pawesome to see him. Every birthday he gets confetti cake so Mom made him one this year. It is one of those box recipes so it was very easy....my Uncle Joel is easy to please. :) I managed to get only a couple of stray scraps that fell on the floor but that's ok...I just enjoyed hanging with Joel.

Then on Saturday I went to play with my furiends! There was a new dog there named Joe...he's the cute Heeler with the tongue as long as my legs! BOL! He was very sweet but we didn't really get to play much as he was constantly chasing after a ball but hey, everyone had fun. ;) I also saw the donkeys again. Don't worry...no one went under the fence this time but boy were they giving me the evil eye!

And on Sunday, my pal Gracie came over for a sleepover! She's still here too. You see, her family went to Disneyland so she gets to stay with me for a couple of days and then she gets to go hang out at her neighbor's a little bit too! We have been having great fun but Mom and Dad have had to separate us a couple of times as we both needed some breaks from each other. :) When I say "we" I really mean ME....Gracie is a ball of energy and could go all day and when I get tired I run under Mom or Dad's computer desk to hide and that's when they know we need to be in separate rooms for awhile. :) So, Gracie goes in one room with Dad and I go in another room with Mom or vice versa. :)

She has really been enjoying my toys and she has even learned how to work the maze ball! I had to give her a little tutorial but she caught on quick! She also has taken a liking to my bed but that's ok because I get the couch and that is MY bed. ;) She even slept in the same room as the family last night...she was on side of the room on her bed and I was on the other on mine. Of course, during the middle of the night I hopped up in bed with Mom and Dad but Gracie didn't even try...either she knows I am the queen of the castle or she is just a good girl. She did wake up at 4am though to go out because that is when her human Dad wakes up so my Dad got up and took her out.

We also got to go to one of my favorite walking areas but I will share those pictures with you later! Have a happy day tomorrow!

Indoor Camping and an Award!

Mom and Dad started this new thing where every other week they take turns planning a fun night for each other. Tuesday was the first one and Mom planned a little indoor camping! I like this new thing because I get to be involved too. Mom and I set up the tent downstairs, put lots of blankets and the sleeping bags in to make it cozy, and we put in a few games to play. (cards, yahtzee, checkers, etc...) Mom put together some "camping food"...hot dogs with the works, BBQ chips (because Dad loves them but rarely gets them), cokes, of course, and s'mores for dessert. So healthy, I know. ;) I even got a hot dog with cheese....YUM! After we ate, we relaxed and played games in the tent. It was great to be snuggled in between Mom and Dad! We didn't sleep in there all night like I wanted to but maybe we can do that another time. I wonder what Dad is planning for the next time...I can't wait. It BETTER include me. :)

The camping thing reminds me of my very first REAL camping trip.

I was just a few months old and at this point Mom and Dad hadn't given into me sleeping in the bed with them. So, they thought it would be a good idea to bring the crate along for me to sleep in and they even put the crate inside of the tent. (it was a big tent) Well, I must have been spooked by my unfamiliar surroundings because I whined relentlessly and Mom finally succumbed to my crying and let me curl up with her. (inside the sleeping bag and everything)After that, she realized how nice it was to snuggle up and sleep beside of me and my days of sleeping in the bed soon followed. :) Camping trips are great for many reasons!

In other news, I got an award from my pal Clover!! She is the cutest Pug you will ever see! Thanks Clover!

So here are the rules: List 6 things that make you happy. Pass the award on to 6 bloggers for being Kreativ. Link to the blogger who gave you the award. Link to the blogs receiving the award. Notify the recipients.

Mom says I can't list six different foods so here are six non-food related things that make me happy:

1.Warm blankets

2. Seeing Mom and Dad come through the door after work

3. Playing with my furiends

4. The crackle of the cheese package....that's technically not food Mom. :)

5. Eating snow

6. Visiting my Nanny....I miss you Nanny and LOVE you!! Happy Birthday!

I would pass this on as I have lots of Kreativ blog furiends but I am not sure who has received the award. :) If you want to tell six things that make you happy though and you are on my furiend list then I would love to hear what makes you happy. :) Hope everyone has a grrreat weekend!

I Got 1st Runner Up in the Mango Minster!!

That's right folks....I got 1st runner up in the hound category for the esteemed Mango Minster 2009! I couldn't be more thrilled and would like to thank all of my supporters! I love you all. If you don't know what the Mango Minster is then you MUST go check it out! Mango and the judges have been working their tails off to put on this pawtastic event!

This picture was taken by either Mango or one of the judges....I'm not sure because I was too busy posing for the camera! Not even the fox could break my concentration! When it comes to posing, I am WELL trained. :) This just in....it was Judge Lacie who took this photo of us in the ring. Even among the chaos of a fox running through and judging she remembered to snap a few photos....now that's my kind of girl! ;) If you click here it takes you directly to the page where it shows my big 1st runner up finish! Good luck to all of the dogs still waiting to compete!

Birthday Bash For a Good Cause!!

On Saturday, my family and I went to Cave B Estate Winery to celebrate Cuvee's birthday. Cuvee is the sweet black Lab girl who lives there. Being as sweet as she is, she decided to turn her birthday bash into a fundraiser for the Skagit Valley Puppy Mill dogs that were recently rescued. Click on the link to read about them. :) What a pawesome thing to do!! It was the first time I had met her and we got along very well....she is super mellow and friendly! :) She is the cute one above with the yellow and green bandana.

At her birthday bash, there were lots of fun things to do like run around the vineyard, try out an agility course that was set up, partake in "Yappy Hour"(there were lots of yummy treats and they even had mint flavored water), hike down through the canyon, meet and greet other dogs, bobbing for bones, and my Auntie Lori was there talking about basic training! Lori is the president of my dog club plus I go to her for classes and doggy daycare. :) She even had Mom and I come up and show everyone how I spin. Good thing too because after that people didn't think I was just a crazy, high energy girl. You see, when I first came in I was a bit excited and one man said to my Mom that when I first came in he was thinking I was "out of control" whatever that means but when he saw me doing all of my tricks he thought I was very well behaved. :) I just get excited in new situations what can I say....I will never be a dog who lies calmly at her human's feet and chills....NOPE, I am the one running around saying hello to everyone, sniffing all the scents, and searching for any food that has been dropped. BOL! All in all I think I was pretty well behaved...I didn't knock anything over or eat anyone's food or sip their wine, and I didn't steal the birthday cake. ;)

There were also lots of people with different booths set up and one was a dog photographer, Erin Vey. Go check out her site....she takes AMAZING photos of us canines. My friends Gus and Waldo just told me that there was a dog on her site that looks like me. GUESS WHAT??? It is ME!! What a privilege to be photographed by her because she takes such great dog photos! ;) Check out the one with my Mom's legs in there too but don't linger too long on her legs...notice how focused I am!! And that dude thought I was out of control...HMMMPH!!

Enjoying some play time with the birthday girl!

Hiking and taking in the beautiful views!

As I said, they had an agility course set up for us dogs. Here I am warming up with a little jump through the hoop. :)

This was the highest jump and the first few times I got to it I would veer to the left and go around it. ;)

Not this time though....I made it!!

Mom was very proud! Check out her Medusa hair...BOL!

Hot Laps

I just stumbled upon a new blog....Rusty's blog! He is super cute, especially when he is running and he had the idea for people to post pictures of themselves running around today and since I LOVE to run I thought I would play along. Go over to Rusty's blog to visit him and link to some of the doggies who are running like mad today. When I get silly and run back and forth and in circles Mom calls it hot laps hence the name of the post. :) These pictures are from a special adventure we got to go on today. I will tell you more about that later but for now this post is all about running!

Putting on the brakes before I crash into Mom...did that once, don't want a repeat performance. ;)

WOOHOO....get those paws movin' and kick up some dirt!

Sweet Dreams Interrupted

Mom: Peek-a-boo!

Me: I see you Mom....please put away the camera and let me sleep in peace. :)

Mom: But you look so cute and peaceful that I must take 700 pictures of you. I will get your ears, your eyes, your nose, and oh, look at that cute little paw! ;)

Me: Well, I guess I am pretty cute but this is the last one!

Mom: Just one more.

Me: That's it woman....get out of here!!!

Dancing with Donkeys

It has been one slow week my friends! So slow that Mom has not taken any pictures of me for a couple of days....that's when ya know it's bad. :) Apparently, she has this evaluation coming up at work where her principal comes to watch her teach. This makes her very nervous even though once it happens she wonders why she was nervous in the first place. Needless to say she has been spending lots of time at school. So, these pictures were taken last week. Up above is me and Ozzie (the Golden Retriever) dancing at the park. But we weren't dancing alone.....

NOPE, do you see who's dancing with us?

That's right, those silly donkeys decided to dance too! Mom thought it was very funny because we were all four dancing at the same time.
Before the happy dancing though there was a bit of a scary situation I must tell you about. We were over saying hello to the donkeys when Ozzie decides to go under the fence for a more intimate greeting. Of course, the donkeys ran away and Ozzie came back. However, a bit later he decided to go in for another try and this time the donkeys did not run away. The next thing I know is I am looking up to see Ozzie running away from the donkey and the donkey had its front legs reared up and was hot on Ozzie's trail! Talk about scary....Ozzie's back could have been broken! Luckily, he made a beeline for the fence and escaped unscathed! I hope he learned his lesson and doesn't try this again but probably not. He's a friendly boy in that way! :) Unfortunately, it all happened too fast for Mom to get a picture plus she was too worried about Ozzie to think of it. :)

So, the moral of the story is: Stay away from donkeys! Especially ones that dance...they are dangerous!

Save The Seal!

ALERT: The Artic seal is in danger of becoming extinct due to the vicious jaws of Nala! Normally a docile and peaceful Rhodesian Ridgeback, she has set out to destroy this sweet and loveable creature. BOL!

Yum, tasty!
