Vacation - Part 2

Mom says there's only one more post to go before I can resume blogging about the important stuff. ;) Plus, the next post will have cute babies and more dogs. Anyway, this is a little hike they went on while in WV. They hiked down the hillside to an old abandoned mine. Mom said it was very steep but there were stairs for most of it. She said this didn't really help and she says they shouldn't have worn jeans but they didn't know quite how steep and grueling it would be. I could have done it no problem! Mom even found a cool fossil that she was overly excited about. Can you see the coal seam in the rocks up there?

So, here's where they hiked.

This was looking up through the hole in top of one of the old coke ovens....I guess they burned the coal in there to produce the coke for fuel.

Just more pics....they visited a Civil War battlefield, went 4-wheelin' (something my Dad had never done and probably won't ever do much of), played horseshoes, and stashed some of the canned goods in their luggage. Mom's grandma is apparently a canning machine.

She also makes this super healthy *wink* version of biscuits and gravy with a side of fried bologna! BOL....not healthy at all but mighty tasty according to Mom. Mom only has it about once a year when she visits so she figures that's not too unhealthy for her.

And of course, the dog pictures that Mom agreed to include. Here is Ivory trying to get Mom's camera....hmmm, maybe Mom was taking too many pictures! ;) Go Ivory, you can do it!

And these are of Ivory playing with the little neighbor dog. They look like they are grrrreat buds!

My Pawrents Went on Vacation and DIDN'T Take Me!!

That's right, they went all the way to West Virginia (WV) and didn't even take me....how rude! Oh well, I got to stay with my Nanny which was even better than their little trip! So there pawrents, take that! It was my Dad's first trip there but it is where my Mom grew up! She has lived here in Washington for about 8 years now though. Here are a few pictures from their trip but apparently there will be more later. Mom says this is all she could prepare for tonight. So, they spent one day at New River Gorge. This is one of Mom's favorite spots to go when she visits! There are lots of hiking trails, rock climbing areas, and whitewater rafting. In fact, she used to work for a rafting company during the summers when she was in college. Plus, she says it is just a beautiful place especially when it is all green but they missed the greenery by a couple of weeks.

Mom is pretending that she is a rock climber but she says back in the day she really climbed up that very route in the picture....I don't know if I believe her or not. ;)

Don't fall Dad....but don't worry if you do because Mom is there to capture it all with her camera! BOL!

Can you see the famous bridge back there. It is over 876 feet tall and it is the tallest vehicular bridge in the Americas. Before it was built it took people over an hour to make the trip down through the gorge and across the river to the other side. Speaking of the river did you know that it flows north....not many rivers do that. :)

Oh, this is my cousin Jake who lives in WV. I told Mom that if she is going to be using MY blog for her trip pictures then she has to at least include dog pictures in every post. ;)

Back on the Blogwagon!

As you know, my Nanny came over so I was away from the blog this week! Well, the reason my Nanny came over (other than that she LOVES me) is that she came to stay with me while my Mom and Dad went away for a few days. They went to West Virginia to visit my Mom's family. I will share some pictures from their trip later but now I want to tell you about my week. I had to spend one night at my Auntie Lori's kennel and then my Nanny got me on Sunday and brought me home. I thought Mom and Dad would be there but they didn't show back up until late last night. I had never been away from them that long but I was good because I had my super Nanny!! Below are a few things we did together.

I supervised her sewing and made sure she was doing everything just right.

Then I said enough's enough! Now let's play! She chased me around the table and we had fun!! I even helped her dig up weeds in the garden. :)

Then, on Wednesday she took me to one of my favorite places with my GRRRRREAT friends Colleen and Sierra! That made me soooo happy! Thank you Nanny and thank you Colleen and Sierra for showing my Nanny one of our fun walking spots. :)

Sierra and I played and I was worn out afterwards!

I also spent some time showing Nanny how flexible I am. I am especially flexible when I am warm and since it was windy all week I got warm in front of the slider and curled up by Nanny on the couch while she was sewing! Guess what!!! She even let me sleep in the bed with her. At first I wasn't sure but she told me to get up on the bed so I did and I think I kept her nice and warm!

THANKS Nanny....you are the best and I woof you with all of my heart! Can't wait to see you again! Oh, tell Grampi I was happy to see him too. (he came up on Thursday just before my pawrents came home)

It's good to be back and I will be visiting your blogs again soon!

Love,
Nala

Patchwork Post

Ok, I have lots of stuff to report and none of it is related. First, my Wordless Wednesday picture...I was tilting my head because Mom was laying on the ground and I was saying hello to her when she said, "Wanna go for a walk?" As soon as I heard the word walk I tilted my head. She told Dad to give her the camera because she thought I looked cute and she said it again and I tilted my head again as I was very excited at the prospect of a walk and snap....she got me with the camera! Right after that, we got to go for that walk! :)

On Thursday, I got to play with my furiend Ozzie! It was loads of fun as you can see! I like the bottom picture of him because he is partially buried in the sand and he reminds me of a bear for some reason. :) He's a cutie!

My furiend, Clover, gave me this special award! Thanks Clover! I think you are pretty fabulous too!

And last, my Nanny is coming over to visit for a few days!!! WOOHOO! I am soooo excited! So, I probably won't be blogging for a few days as I will be playing with my Nanny! I will miss visiting your blogs but I will see you soon and catch up on your adventures!

Love,

Nala

Sierra's Visit

My friend Sierra came over to my house this weekend for a visit! It was her first time here and we had sooooo much fun! You see, her Mom was working out of town and couldn't get home in time to get her before the place she was staying closed so my Mom picked her up and she came to hang out with us for a little bit.

We played in my backyard,

told each other secrets,

and we even went for a walk together!

We went for a walk to see the fire. A building not far from where I live caught on fire and we could see the huge black, smoke cloud from my house so we went to check it out along with the rest of the town. There are never that many cars on that road until something like this happens. I guess that's what ya get in a small town. ;) Hey, at least we walked and got some exercise instead of doing a drive by.

We didn't get too close because Mom made Dad stop....she said we shouldn't go any closer.

Sierra: WHOA, I have never seen a fire...I am shocked.

Nala: Ummmm, I know I like warm places but this is a little scary!

Sierra: Still in shock.

Nala: Come on, let's get out of here please! I can't take it! I prefer the warmth of the heater and a nice blanket.

Finally, we left and came back to my backyard to play some more. See my pink ball I got from the Dughallmor beagles!

Nala: Hey Sierra, check out my new pink ball!!

Sierra: Ummmm, I'm really not into pink balls.

Nala: Oh, you know you want it!

Sierra: Ummm, I really don't.

Nala: HA HA, I know you want it but you will never catch me!! Come on, just try!

Sierra: Did she hear anything I said?

PAW It Forward!!!

Can you guess who I got my Paw it forward package from this weekend?? I'll give you a hint: They are four fabulous beagles with a bit of Scottish charm! ;)

Still don't know....they are Rosie, Gabbi, Alfie, & Snoop....The Dughallmor Beagles!!!

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was! Mom opened the package for me and let me see everything one-by-one and then she made me pose for a picture with my goodies before I got to taste the treats or play with my ball. Good thing I am patient! :) Check out my loot! I got this super cool ribbon with MY name on it....how cool is that! I also got a cool, squeaky pink ball, two different flavors of bone treats, and some meaty treats as well although I haven't tasted those yet. Mom says I will get some of those this week. :) I am drooling just thinking about it! Also, Mom and Dad even got some treats!!! Nicky, the beagle's Mom, sent them some INCREDIBLE fudge! In fact, it was so scrumptious that I think it is all gone now....it didn't take long and they didn't even let me taste it. Thanks my beagle buddies and Nicky! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my goodies and Mom and Dad loved theirs too!

Would you like to join in for Paw it forward? Here are the rules. "The exchange focuses on doing an act of kindness without expecting anything in return other than that the recipient will, in their turn, pass the kindness along and 'paw it forward' in their own way. This is how it works...we are going to agree to send something fun, inspiring or uplifting to the first 3 blog owners who post a comment on this entry. In turn you will then post about this on your blog, link to us, then send something to the first three people who sign up to play along through your blog. There are no cost restraints, BUT don't go crazy! The little something you send can be something you made, bought, were given or found. No biggie, just a gift that will make the person smile. Maybe something unique from where you live? And, remember that kindness doesn't have to involve money; there are untold ways to help others every single day, everywhere you go - just look around." SO PAW IT FORWARD...

If you are one of the first three people to comment on this post and you would like to play then please email my Mom with your address so we can send you out something fun! :) WOOF!!

P.S. I forgot to mention that the beagles also donated some money in my name to the Bushfire Appeal to help those doggies and humans down under who were in the areas where the horrible fires took place. :) What a great idea!!! Thanks again Beagle buddies! :)

On The Injured List

Take a look at my nail to the right in the pictures....I realize it doesn't look that bad in photos but it is not a walk in the park either. ;) So, Mom and I went for a walk with my furiend, Sierra, and her Mom, Colleen last night! It was a great walk but when we got back to the car Mom noticed I was licking my paw. Once home and with further inspection, Mom noticed blood and that I had cracked my nail pretty good. She cleaned it up and now I have to take it easy for a couple of days. I tired to pounce on a toy and it hurt so I had to limp for a bit and Mom said I was allowed no more "rough housing" for a while. I hope it is better for the weekend because I want to go for a hike and play with my furiends! Oh, guess what??? I know I got injured on the walk but it was still really fun AND when we got back to the cars we heard REAL coyotes yipping up in the hills! It was super cool as Mom and I have never heard them like that before! Good thing Sierra and I were in the car or we may have gone to find them so we could play. ;)

P.S. My nails are not painted....they are just that black! :)

Homemade Pizza and Rock Band!

My Uncle Joel and Etsuko got to come over and play with me this weekend! It was pawesome! The humans decided to make homemade pizza so I supervised. ;)

Can you see me making sure Dad is cutting it just right?

They made two different kinds and I think they both looked yummy but I didn't get one of my own like my furiends Paco & Milo! :( They are sooooo lucky! At least I did get to eat some of the cheese though. :)

More supervising and quality control pictures. :) I was waiting to test the quality of anything that fell on the floor. BOL!

Then, I did some of my tricks for Etsuko. She seemed to think I was very smart so I didn't mind showing off for her and plus Mom gave her some treats to give to me!

She even played the run around the table game with me!! I LOVE that game!

Then, they decided to play a little of that Rock Band game. I thought I would try it out to see what all the fuss was about. I think my singing really helped their score but they weren't so sure. :)

It was Etsuko's first time so Uncle Joel gave her a quick guitar lesson. :)

She soon had the hang of it and she did very good!!

After a while I got tired of the noise and decided to turn off the game because it was my bed time. What a fun weekend!
